Is this a tax-deductible contribution?
Sponsoring messages is a tax-deductible expense, however it is not a "contribution". Many companies write off the expense as either advertising or public relations. EMG and the radio station are providing services. However, if required, we can arrange for you to make the payment directly to the station to satisfy your accounting needs.
Can I ask for specific times?
You may request certain blocks of times to air, however, we can not guarantee those times will be available when requested. We will do our best to accommodate your requests. First priority is always given to paid orders, so if the scheduling is very important to you then prompt payment will help a great deal in ensuring your requested scheduling.
How much does the station get?
While EMG is not a fund raising company, the primary reason our stations work with us is to increase their revenue. While we do send an average of 20-30% of your payment to the station, we feel the real focus is on the effect the campaigns have on the community and the involvement and recognition of local businesses. We are asking for your participation in a campaign, not a donation. If you wish to donate to the station rather than sponsor one of our campaigns, we will provide you with the contact information you need to do so, in which case you can be assured that 100% of your donation is received.
Can I add my own message to the campaign?
You are welcome to add additional information about your company, however due to FCC regulations we cannot allow any advertising or "call to action". Most companies elect to have their phone number mentioned or a brief description of what they do. This is allowable as long as it is informational only and does not use superlatives ("best", "largest", etc).
Why should I sponsor a campaign?
First and foremost - because it works. Studies have shown that PSA's have a dramatic effect on the community, but only through repetition and continued coverage. As our world increases in complexity and more and more issues compete for attention, it is increasingly important for people to be reminded of issues that otherwise would be forgotten. In addition, by adding your name to the campaign, the message is given more prominence and respectability, and demonstrates your good will to the community.
